Last night at home in The Woodlands!

SOOOOOO...This is it! Finally, it is my last night in my home of 7.5 years. It's kinda crazy when I start thinking about it, for it seems like just the other day I was unpacking boxes and hanging up clothes in my HUGE closet (unfortunately, I will not be able to bring that with me to NY).

It's interesting how each time something significant happens in our lives, we begin to reflect on the past. We start to put "last ____" on everything. We say "goodbye!!!!" to friends. We become nostalgic about leaving things that we've only known as "the only way" it has ever been.

Memories flash through my mind as I read names of friends that have signed my wall. I take a few extra seconds to look over the pictures that I have hanging on my wall and propped on my desk. I smile as I remember my 17th birthday when there were 11 of my friends sitting in a tight circle around my rug as we screamed and laughed while playing Catch Phrase. I lower the smile as I recollect the times I've run upstairs and slammed my door after a fight with my parents. Many days have gone and past in this home, and here's the thing...there will be more!

You know, I've found that through all this getting ready to leave, I often forget- It's not over! I will still be coming home. I will still be seeing my friends and family. There will be many more memories to make. Now, I don't think that means I won't miss things, but it has reminded me to remain positive and excited, not afriad to move on.

Now the time has come for the big move, and I'm ready. I'm not quite sure what I'm ready for, but I have a feeling God is going to help me out on this one. He never fails.

Get ready New York- Here I come!!!

Love,
Violamad

  1. You've always been a fun one to talk to. I'm sure you'll have some grand epic times at college, especially in NY. I'd put some clever or touching, but not being an especially clever person, I can only recommend having a copy of A.A. Milne's works with you at all times- it's quite the panacea. Take care and don't forget to regale us with tales of your adventures!
