Happy 2013!

Happy New Year! 2013 will be a good one!
Here's a little sticker I made to celebrate: It's the year of the viola! (no matter that we aren't the only ones who use alto clef ;) You can buy one here: 2013 Viola Sticker

This spring, I will graduate (hopefully :) from Juilliard with my Bachelor's degree and who knows where I will be in the fall! I currently hope to stay at Juilliard for my Masters, but I am also applying to Yale and Rice Universities.

2012 treated me well. I started a new series of videos featuring "Viola Tips" and I've launched my Facebook fan page: https://www.facebook.com/MarieDanielsviolamad. Like it if you like viola :)

I also had my graduation recital on December 7th, and it was successful :) I'm really enjoying playing the baroque viola. The most fun part of my recital was performing Brandenburg 6 with some wonderful friends. Maybe that will provide a new path for my future?

Best wishes to you in the new year. May you find more happiness and success!

Love,
Violamad

  1. Hi, ...well, i know my comment is not about the post, but I´m very confused and i like to hear your opinion. The thing is, i´m a young violist, with 2 little years of practice, and i Have the luck of take a master class with a great professor. At the end of the class, he started to talk about the diferent techniques of playing. He mentioned a russian technique, Italian technique, French technique and others. He said me That I have to chose one, and cultivate it to it´s limits, but just one, i Can´t take two because one will destroy the other. But he don´t explain me how are the techniques, he just said " all are good, you have to choose the one who flows in your spirit ". After that, i ask to some teachers about the different ways of practice, so i like to ask if your technique is of some type, or is an invention of you, your own tipe of playing, some kind of northamerican technique. I like to know it , because i feel very connected whith your sound.
