Last night at home in The Woodlands!

SOOOOOO...This is it! Finally, it is my last night in my home of 7.5 years. It's kinda crazy when I start thinking about it, for it seems like just the other day I was unpacking boxes and hanging up clothes in my HUGE closet (unfortunately, I will not be able to bring that with me to NY).

It's interesting how each time something significant happens in our lives, we begin to reflect on the past. We start to put "last ____" on everything. We say "goodbye!!!!" to friends. We become nostalgic about leaving things that we've only known as "the only way" it has ever been.

Memories flash through my mind as I read names of friends that have signed my wall. I take a few extra seconds to look over the pictures that I have hanging on my wall and propped on my desk. I smile as I remember my 17th birthday when there were 11 of my friends sitting in a tight circle around my rug as we screamed and laughed while playing Catch Phrase. I lower the smile as I recollect the times I've run upstairs and slammed my door after a fight with my parents. Many days have gone and past in this home, and here's the thing...there will be more!

You know, I've found that through all this getting ready to leave, I often forget- It's not over! I will still be coming home. I will still be seeing my friends and family. There will be many more memories to make. Now, I don't think that means I won't miss things, but it has reminded me to remain positive and excited, not afriad to move on.

Now the time has come for the big move, and I'm ready. I'm not quite sure what I'm ready for, but I have a feeling God is going to help me out on this one. He never fails.

Get ready New York- Here I come!!!

Love,
Violamad

Prepping for Jyard

So, the time is finally arriving. I am now in my last few days at home, packing and preparing for the big move on Saturday. People always ask:

-So, are you excited?
-Oh yes, of course!

But I think really the best way to describe it is this:
-I'm everything!

Does that make sense? Yes, it does. I am about to embark on a new adventure, and new chapter of my life. I'm leaving home, going to live on my own for the first time...yes, in New York City. I honestly have no clue as to what to expect (except for playing my viola, a lot. I've got that one down) So, I'm everything!

I'm excited.
I'm anxious.
I'm happy.
I'm sad.
I'm nervous.
I'm confident.
I'm composed.
I'm frantic.

Need I continue? You get the point.

Actually, while we are on the topic of nervous, I might add that one thing I'm most nervous about are the placement exams. I mean, I know they are not a grade and are just to put you where you need to be, but still! I'm going to be playing the piano in front of somebody for the first time in like 8 years. And the writing exam, on an article about Japanese Aesthetics and an art of my choice that is similar to Japanese ideas. What do I know about Japan? And when was the last time I wrote proper English? Facebook chat and talking to a Russian have definitely taken a hit on my English skills. (<---who knows if any of that English is correct anyway!)

So, I guess I better get off blogger and get to researching, packing and whatever else I need to be doing with my life.

Oh prayer! I need a lot of that. Please and thank you!

Love,
Violamad
